Sports Nutrition Recovery

Research suggests that antioxidant nutrition assists in reducing recovery time by helping the body to combat free radical damage.
So what are antioxidants and free radicals and what do they do? Let's us look at what happens to an apple or a potato when we remove the skin - they go brown if left to the open air. They are, being damaged by free radicals. Free radicals are molecules with electrons that are unpaired – ie unstable & reactive. FR’s steal electrons – damage other molecules – on and on – chain reaction.
If you were to put lime or lemon juice onto the same apple or potato then it changes back to white again. The juice acts as an antioxidant.
So how does this relate to us as human beings? When you breathe you create lots of free radicals so it makes sense that, as you exercise (since you are likely to breathe more rapidly), you will create more free radicals. By taking a high quality antioxidant post exercise, you can reduce the effects of free radical damage and are likely to feel less muscle ache as a result.
Products that maybe beneficial:
Both of our antioxidant products, Rose Ox and Schizandra Plus are superb for helping to reduce muscle aches and pains post exercise. As a Fitness instructor myself, I benefit hugely from using these two products after intense classes. Schizandra Plus has the addded benefit of supporting lung function which is beneficial during exercise.
We would also recommend Herbalifeline Omega 3 to support a healthy heart and circulation.
